John Amos Comenius was born on March 28, 1592, in the village of Nivnitz, Eastern Moravia, The Czech Republic. He and his family spoke the Bohemian tongue (Spinka, 1943 ). His father was a miller and a member of a religious group known as the Moravian Brethren (Comenius, 1910; Krulj et al., 2020 ). Laurie ( 1972) described this sect of Bohemian John Amos Comenius (1592—1670) theologian and educationist Quick Reference (1592-1670), Moravian educational reformer, chiliast, and pansophist. He gained European fame in 1631 with the publication of Janua Linguarum Reserata, published in England as The Gates of Tongues Unlocked and Opened. His last great work, De Rerum Humanorum John Amos Comenius. The great bronze statue of John Amos Comenius (1592-1670) on Moravian's campus depicts him as a fierce old man. It may reflect Comenius's reaction to being driven from one home after another by religious wars and persecution, watching his first wife and their two children die under refugee conditions, and being continually misled by false hopes of returning to his homeland.
