Founded in 1896 as the College of Physicians and Surgeons, University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry has served the San Francisco Bay Area for more than a century. The dental school joined the University of the Pacific in 1962, and in 2004 was named after long-time dean and renowned dental educator Dr. Arthur A. Dugoni. Dugoni School of Dentistry at University of the Pacific is expanding oral health care at community health centers in Northern California with a $550,000 grant from the California Dental Association Foundation. The funding will be used to establish clinical rotations in Napa and Merced counties for senior students in the school's Dugoni School of Dentistry. The Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry is a nationally renowned institution of higher learning. We are committed to providing a world-class dental education for our students and comprehensive, affordable patient care for adults and children in a humanistic environment. While other dental schools are starting to teach the treatment of these patients, the Dugoni School has done so for 15 years. The curriculum includes teaching minimally invasive techniques and different approaches, such as spending the first 10 minutes of a visit getting acquainted with a patient to develop trust or dimming the lights to help Dr. Dugoni and family requested, if so moved, that memorial gifts be made to The Art Dugoni Scholar Fund, an endowment that will support a Dugoni dental student selected on need, merit and leadership potential.
