Echo Hose Ambulance (EHAC) is a volunteer-led nonprofit EMS provider for the City of Shelton and the surrounding areas. Our training center offers a wide range of classes to help students meet their EMT/EMS certification needs. We also offer community classes in areas like CPR, First Aid, Bleeding Control, Mental Health First Aid and Narcan Before: Prior to 2020, CT EMTs would complete a 30 hour EMT Refresher course within a year of their expiration date. The EMT Refresher course included a practical skills test and written exam proctored by an OEMS assigned examiner. Successful completion of the course and exams resulted in an extension of 3 years to the EMT certificate. Training and Education. Our EMS education department is one of the biggest in the state. Whether you are a layperson looking to take an EMT course, a practicing EMT looking to advance your career to the paramedic level, or a current provider looking for an AHA class taught by the most experienced instructors, you have come to the right place. Registrants who request inactive status at the EMT level do not need to obtain verification of skills from their Training Officer/Supervisor. These registrants must complete all refresher, continuing education and CPR requirements. These registrants are eligible to recertify by examination if they so choose. An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is an emergency responder trained to provide emergency medical care to the critically ill or injured. EMTs provide care in many settings that can include working on an ambulance, in a hospital, or medical office.
