To reach Bridal Veil Falls, start your journey in Spearfish, South Dakota, and take West Jackson Boulevard (Highway 14A) until you reach the stoplight marking the intersection of US-85 S/N Main St and US-14A E marking the beginning of Spearfish Canyon. Turn onto US-14A E and continue for approximately 7 miles. It's nestled in the small town of Spearfish, South Dakota, along Interstate 90. The northern entrance is off exit 10 or 14. Signs will take you directly into the Canyon on 14A, you can't miss it! For the southern entrance take Highway 85 east from Wyoming or west from Lead/Deadwood. This byway is the best place in the Black Hills to see waterfalls, including Bridal Veil, Little Spearfish & Roughlock Falls. The byway is a favorite fall color drive when the aspen changes in Sept. The Byway also follows an old railroad grade that was abandoned after massive flooding in 1933. We started down Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway and stopped at Bridal Veil Falls, Spearfish Falls, and Roughlock Falls. Our second stop was Spearfish Falls (47ft). Park at the Latchstring Restaurant. On the right, you'll see the map, to the right of that, there's a small hidden platform to see the falls from the top. It just looks like a stream. The trail is ADA accessible and a great trail for families. The trailhead is near Spearfish Canyon Lodge and is accessible from the lodge parking lot. If hiking isn't your cup of tea, the canyon also has rock climbing, picnicking, fishing, swimming, bird watching, and dining.
