Haley Patillo was born to Christian songwriter David Patillo, who immersed her in music from a young age on his concert tours.Her parents homeschooled their children and enrolled them in music lessons. At about age 13, while overcoming a year of mental illness, Haley became fascinated with classical music and aspired to attend college. David Patillo worked at the Springfield-Greene County Library for 27 years before passing away from COVID-19 on August 8, 2021. His family remembers him in this Sense of Community episode. David Patillo is the son of a minister, raised in church, taught from birth the value of prayer, and the wisdom of God. He comes from a musical family, songwriter father and singer mother. His siblings are all musically inclined-either musicians or singers. David wrote his first song as a very young child. He has written hundreds of songs.
