CanSkate is a dynamic learn-to-skate program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. Based on Sport Canada's long term athlete development (LTAD) principles, CanSkate centers on physical literacy and the fundamental skills needed to take part in any ice sport or to skate as a recreational activity. All you need are skates, a CSA-approved hockey helmet, long pants, mittens, warm sweater or jacket. Dress in layers - it will get warm! CanSkate inquiries can be sent to [email protected]. MKSC offers a variety of Skate Canada programs to persons of all ages. These programs range from Pre-school, learn-to-skate (CanSkate), STARSkate CanSkate. For skaters aged 4 or 5 (if passed PreCanSkate); or, aged 6 and up who have never skated, or are working on CanSkate Stages 1-6. Taught in a group lesson format. Skaters learn the fundamentals of balance, agility and control to prepare for figure skating, hockey, ringette, speed skating, synchronized skating or recreational skating.
