To this rich collection Beinecke's curators have recently added the architectural treatise of Sebastiano Serlio, the most popular and influential architectural book published in early modern Europe.2 Sebastiano Serlio was born in Bologna in 1475, an exact contem- porary of Michelangelo; but the kinship ends there.
