Whitechapel Gallery presents a 100-year survey of the studio through the work of artists and image-makers from around the world. The exhibition brings together more than 100 works by over 80 artists and collectives from Africa, Australasia, South Asia, China, Europe, Japan, the Middle East, North and South America. The Whitechapel Gallery is a public art gallery in Whitechapel on the north side of Whitechapel High Street, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.The original building, designed by Charles Harrison Townsend, opened in 1901 as one of the first publicly funded galleries for temporary exhibitions in London.The building is a notable example of the British Modern Style. Gallery 2 is the historic central reading room of the former Whitechapel Library. This Space retains its original Victorian exposed brickwork and polished concrete floor, and these beautiful surroundings make it one of the most amazing venues and backdrops for a number of events.
