Founder and Spiritual Director. Ven. Choeji Lama (Kuten lama): He received many lineage teachings and initiations and completed many retreats. He was awarded the Geshe (Doctorate in Buddhist philosophy) degree in 1993, one of the highest degrees in Buddhist studies. After traveling the world and offering teachings in more than 33 countries, Ven Ven. Jamyang Lama, along with Ven. Kuten Lama have been living in Bloomington at the DGTL Monastery since it opened more than 10 years ago. A small number of monks moved to Bloomington in 1997 and built the DGTL residence at 102 Clubhouse Dr. in order to keep their teachings and culture alive. Kuten Lama was one of those monks. The Snow Lion served Tibetan and Indian cuisine, and was owned and operated by Jigme Norbu, the nephew of the Dalai Lama of Tibet.. The name "Choyang" is the short form of Chokor-Yangse and Duldzin is the peaceful form of Dharmapala Dorje Shugden. As petitioners sought clearer answers to their questions especially during those difficult times, they requested more Venerable Gameng Kuten (Choijin) Lama.
