When it was made known last June that De Vries would be leaving his position as dean of Campus Fryslân to lead the RUG, the announcement was mostly met with cheers, but there were a few notable jeers. The Sleutelvrouwen (a group of women affiliated with the university) were dismayed that yet another man had been chosen Prof. Dr. Jouke de Vries is the current President of the Board at the University of Groningen. After studying political sciences in Amsterdam, Jouke became a professor of Public Administration at the University of Leiden back in 1999. In May 2015, De Vries was appointed professor of Governance and public policy at the University of Groningen. Is New Public Management Really Dead.
