Scope/Content: Bryan Thao Worra was born in Vientiane, Laos and was then adopted by a pilot for Lao Airlines and lived in America during his childhood. During his years in college, he left for a period of time to go to Washington D.C. to work in Southeast Asian Refugee Resettlement. When he grew older, he looked for his birth parents, which brought him on a long journey through America and In 2012 he was a Cultural Olympian during the Summer Olympics in London representing Laos. He is the author of the books On the Other Side of the Eye, BARROW, Tanon Sai Jai, Winter Ink, and DEMONSTRA, which won the 2014 Elgin Award for Science Fiction Poetry Book of the Year. Thao Worra curated numerous readings and exhibits of Lao and Hmong Bryan Thao Worra was adopted in 1973 by an American pilot flying in Laos. Thao Worra is the author of over nine books of poetry on the Lao American diaspora, and has published in more than a hundred publications, including Poetry, Quarterly Literary Review Singapore, AGNI, London Ghetto Poets, Defenestration, National Geographic's Poetry of the U.S., Asian American Literary Review, and Bryan Thao Worra is a Laotian American writer who works actively to support Southeast Asian American artists. A 2002 Many Voices Fellow, he has gone on to write 6 books, including the forthcoming Demonstrafrom Innsmouth Free Press in Fall, 2013.He represented the nation of Laos as a Cultural Olympian during the 2012 London Summer Games and is the first Lao American to hold an NEA Fellowship in Contributor (Arts, Race & Culture)Bryan Thao Worra is the president of the Science Fiction Poetry Association, an international literary organization celebrating the poetry of the imaginative and the fantastic, and a professional member of the Horror Writers Association.
