Alice was born at St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas. She was the only child of Dr. Edward W. Vaughan of Kentucky and Myrtle Lee Barnes of Lampasas, Texas. Myrtle Barnes was the daughter of Alice Willingham and William F. Barnes, who was a cotton merchant, banker, rancher William Frank (Bill) Dumesnil (1949-2021) passed away on August 14, 2021 at the age of 72.
