Vicksburgとwinfieldコロラド

Winfield Winfield is a ghost town in Chaffee County, Colorado, United States. It is estimated that as many as 1,500 people may have lived in Winfield.A marker on site reads "Winfield, at the junction of the north and south forks of Clear Creek, started off with some confusion, as shown in this article from the Chaffee County Times, August 12, 1881: 'Lucknow is the name given to the old town of Vicksburg, Colorado by Kathy Alexander. Maintained by the Clear Creek Canyon Historical Society, this mining camp was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. Museums at Vicksburg and Winfield are open to the public during the summer months; however, the road is open year-round. Winfield was the largest, with over 1,500 people in the town and surrounding vicinity. Both Winfield and Vicksburg have been partially restored. The Balm of Gilead trees planted by settlers to line Vicksburg's main street and provide medicinal salve from their sap still stand in beautiful and mute testimony to what had been and is no more. Winfield and Vicksburg are located within a 15 minute drive of each other on the same dirt road. Currently, the road is passable for most vehicles but if you want to be safe, consider using a vehicle with some clearance. These towns aren't completely abandoned but seem to have some residents - at least part time. Winfield School Museum. August 30, 2013 By // by Matt Thomas. Clear Creek Canyon Ghost Towns.
