The centerpiece of the Continuing the tradition carried out worldwide, the Ismaili Centre of Toronto is the sixth such Ismaili Centre in the world. It is situated, along with "the Aga Khan Museum", within a 6.8-hectare landscaped park. It was conceived by the renowned Indian Architect Charles Correa in 2010 and was achieved by September 2014.. In designing the Ismaili Centre, Toronto, Charles Correa's vision was to create a building that responds to the traditions of Islamic architecture in a contemporary design using modern materials. The most striking feature of the Ismaili Centre is undoubtedly the prayer hall, with its crystalline frosted glass dome and elegant steel trusses. The Ismaili Centre's design brief described a desire for a sequential, experiential and integrated use of space. Clear emphasis was placed on ensuring order and harmony and on fostering mutual respect and understanding both within the Ummah and across society at large.
