Located in Hall County near Gainesville, GA, Chicopee Woods Mountain Bike Park offers 21.3 miles of pure cross country delight. Developed in the early to mid 1990's, Chicopee Woods has entertained generations of mountain bikers. The trails here range from old school rake and ride to new school machine built The trails at Chicopee Woods offer an excellent variety of short and longer hikes that follow quiet forest creeks and provide some much needed solitude. The two longer 3-mile loops I've split out as separate hikes. See the Bridge Loop, the Lake Loop, and the two loop combo. This page describes the rest of the trails, which are much shorter but White Tail Trail is a key component to the Chicopee Woods featured ride as it connects most all of the loops in the park. It starts at a junction with Tortoise Trail and descends quickly down to the gravel service road. The trail is marked with a sign and plastic skull nailed to a tree. Don't let this ominous marking deter you however, as White Chicopee Woods is a very pleasant ride that begins with the Tortoise Trail.Start down Tortoise Trail in the direction indicated for that day of the week. Enjoy a mellow warm-up spin until you reach the intersection with White Tail Trail. Turn down White Tail Trail, enjoy a quick descent and turn left when you hit the service road.Look for Red Tail Trail to climb back into the woods to the right. The trail then flows along until after a longish uphill portion it eventually brings you back to where the Flying Squirrel meets up with White Tail Trail upper and lower in Chicopee Woods #1800 Overall.
