Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen was a Portuguese poet who lived between 1919 and 2004. She has authored dozens of books, including Coral, Navegações, Geografia ,and The name of things. The latter includes this writing, dated May 10 th, 1975, which she read at the 1 st Portuguese Writers Congress.
