Audrey Napanangka Martin was born in 1950 and is a senior Warlpiri woman from Yuendumu, some 350km north west of Alice Springs. Her home country is Mount Theo outstation north west of Yuendumu - about 170km off the Tanami Highway. Audrey was taught to paint by her aunt and has painted for about 20 years including for Jukurrpa Arts, formerly in Alice Springs, and Warlukurlangu Artists in Audrey was born in 1950 in Yuendumu, a settlement about 370km away from Alice Springs, NT. She grew up in Yuendumu and went through local primary school. Audrey learnt painting from Netta Williams (Napanangka) and by watching tribal elder's body painting. Both of her parents were good artists.
