Wedding String Quartet performing Te Deum composed by Marc-Antoine Charpentier

Charpentier te deum

The Te Deum was probably composed to commemorate the Battle of Steenkerque of 1692, or the Treaty of Turin, of 1695. After the Second World War, the European Broadcasting Union selected the first eight measures of the prelude to serve as jingle for Eurovision. Charpentier probably wrote six different versions of the Te Deum. Four of these are This music is the Prelude from the "Te Deum" by French composer Marc-Antoine Charpentier, arranged for piano and played by Jim Paterson. Sheet Music and Audi It is certainly the most popular work by Charpentier, and arguably the best-known piece of the entire French Baroque. That is no surprise; apart from its brilliance, it is a piece of pomp and circumstance, with trumpets and timpani, which never fails to make an impression. A performance of the Te Deum is a perfect way to capture an audience.
