The trail starts right from the heart of the handsome grey stone town of Dolgellau, from the corner of the main car park by the bridge over the river. Situated on the former Great Western Railway line, the Mawddach Trail runs from Dolgellau to Barmouth. It is a level trail which is both wheelchair and pushchair friendly. Affording views of the River Mawddach, the trail meanders along the river bank but, sometimes, ducks inland trough tree-lined avenues. The Mawddach Trail Route Description. There's very little instructions needed to follow the Mawddach Trail. It starts from the Marian car park in Dolgellau.
