Kofa National Wildlife Refuge is a 665000 acre protected area in southwest Arizona. This vast desert wilderness has unlimited opportunities for exploring the Sonoran desert. We visited Palm Canyon on our way to California. Palm Canyon Road is off US-95, about 20 miles south of Quartzite. A rough 7 mile gravel road leads to the canyon. Elevation: Varies across the refuge. Signal Peak in the Kofa Mountains is at 4,877 feet; Castle Dome Peak in the Castle Dome Mountains is at 3,788 feet. Directions: From Yuma, travel north on U.S. Route 95 for 40 miles to the refuge.
