St. Ethelbert (also known as Albert or Albright), King of East Anglia and Martyr (in the Eastern tradition—Passion-Bearer), is venerated as the main patron saint of the city of Hereford in western England, as well as of Hereford Cathedral and the local Anglican diocese of Hereford. He is also especially venerated in the counties of Norfolk The Cathedral is the mother church of the Diocese of Canterbury and is also known throughout the world as the seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury and the church which welcomes the ten yearly Lambeth conferences of the bishops of the Anglican Communion.
