Psammocora sp. - This bright green Psammocora has been growing in our Biota Florida facility, and we're now offering in-house grown frags. Psammocora are small polyp stony corals, but they are hardier and more tolerant than other SPS corals like Acropora. Provide moderate to high water movement and stable alkalinity van der Horst, 1921. Characters: Colonies are massive or encrusting and are primarily characterised by highly meandering valleys, often with steep walls. Corallites are distributed largely independently of the valleys. Petaloid primary septa are exsert giving the colony surface a rough appearance. Colour: Grey, brown or cream. Photo is a representation of the shape, size, and color of the coral you will receive.Approximate size is 0.5" to 0.75" in diameter. Corallites are solitary or in short valleys approximately 1 mm wide. Septa are thick, uniform or irregularly fused with elaborated margins. Columellae are styliform. Walls are have conspicuous synapticular rings. Colour: Dark green to brown. Similar Species: Psammocora profundacella has larger corallites, a more elaborate columella and develops Psammocora contigua. (Esper, 1794) Characters: Colonies are mixtures of flattened branches, columns and/or irregular nodules. Sometimes they occur as free-living mobile balls. Corallite structures are fine and corallites are shallow, giving colonies a smooth surface.
