Corvallis came into being in the 1870s, taking its name in one of two ways. Lore has it that someone had visited the Corvallis in Oregon (which was founded in the 1850s) and thought the name fit Corvallis is located in the heart of the Willamette Valley, just 90 minutes south of Portland and 45 minutes north of Eugene. The easiest way to get to Corvallis is by car, but you can also take a bus or a train.
