It contains three ponds greater than 1,000 acres, 16 greater than 100 acres, and 24 greater than 10 acres (Table 1). Approx. 10 percent of the watershed is occupied by lakes and ponds. The principal river in the watershed is Cobbosseecontee Stream, which begins at Cobbosseecontee Stream runs through 15 towns and flows through the City of Gardiner where it meets the Kennebec River. The lakes, streams and ponds of the Cobbosseecontee watershed were once home to at least seven species of diadromous fish. Long dammed, the 240 acres of the Cobbossee Stream watershed represent valuable but inaccessible habitat The annual Cobbosseecontee Lake Bass Tourney held at the Lakeside Motel & Cabins, to benefit Special Olympics Maine, was again a GREAT SUCCESS!!!!Always well attended, more than 100 anglers took to the water that morning, not only to compete for top prizes, but also to raise funding for the more than 4300 athletes across Maine, who participate in Special Olympics each year!!!
