Kansas City Center is responsible for monitoring 195,000 square miles of airspace. Controllers are organized into teams that are assigned to one of six geographic areas. Between 49 and 52 controllers are assigned to each team. Within each area, there are a total of ~40 different sectors which are further subdivided into 3 altitude levels.
