Gwinear (Cornish: Gwynnyer) is a small village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Gwinear-Gwithian, in the Cornwall district, in west Cornwall, England, UK.It is about two miles (3 km) east of Hayle and overlooks the Angarrack valley. In 1931 the parish had a population of 1234. On 1 April 1934 the parish was abolished to form "Gwinear Gwithian". The Lanyon family have had connections with Gwinear going back to at least the 15th century but the Gwinear branch of the Lanyons begins with Edward Lanyon and Margery Chappell.
