HMAS Warramunga (II), frigate helicopter (FFH). Built by Tenix Defence Systems in Williamstown, Victoria, HMAS Warramunga (II) is the third of eight Anzac Class frigates based on the German Meko 200 frigate. Anzac Class is a long-range frigate capable of air defence, surface and undersea warfare, surveillance, reconnaissance and interdiction. HMAS Warramunga was commissioned at Sydney on 23 November 1942 under the command of Commander Emile FV Dechaineux DSC RAN.. Warramunga completed final acceptance trials in December 1942 and on 30 December departed for Brisbane, where she was occupied for a month in working up trials. This was followed by a shakedown trip to Melbourne, which she reached on 1 February 1943. HMAS Warramunga (I44/D123) was a Tribal-class destroyer of the Royal Australian Navy. She was laid down by Cockatoo Docks and Engineering Company at its Cockatoo Island Dockyard on 10 February 1940. The destroyer was launched on 7 February 1942 by the wife of Francis Michael Forde, the Minister for the Army. Warramunga was commissioned into the RAN on 23 December 1942, the day after her TRIBAL-Class Destroyer ordered from Cockatoo Docks and Engineering Co at Sydney, Australia for service the Royal Australian Navy on 24th January 1939. The ship was laid down on 10th February 1940 and launched on 7th February 1942. Her build was completed on 23rd November 1942. Build design followed that of the TRIBAL Class Fleet Destroyers Warramunga (F152) is the third of Australia's eight Anzac class frigates. These are general-purpose patrol frigates, a variant of the popular German MEKO 200 design.
