The trail from Pine Cliff Recreation Area to Highway 306 is temporarily closed due to the impacts of Hurricane Florence. In between, the trail crosses cypress swamps, hardwood ridges, longleaf pine savannah and Oyster Point Campground. Oyster Point Campground is located on the banks of the Newport River, near the town of Newport, NC. The campground is just a short drive to the beaches of Atlantic Beach, NC and other coastal fishing destinations.
