Camsell Portage maintains an air strip, a northern settlement office, a church and a school that is now used as a health centre and community hall. Despite its remoteness, satellite TV and high speed internet services are offered in the community. In June, 2016 Camsell Portage, along with the First Nations of Black Lake, Fond du Lac and Hatchet Camsell Portage is located on the north shore of Lake Athabasca, one of the 25 largest freshwater lakes on earth. Camsell is a unique Dene community. It has less than fifty residents who live a traditional life much as their forbears did by seeking out an existence off the land by the way of fish, game and fur.1. Moose and barren-ground caribou samples were obtained from the Camsell Portage area in 2015. A lynx sample was not obtained this year. The results of the laboratory testing showed that the levels of key parameters were similar to those from previous years in the Camsell Portage area and to the other AWG communities.
