"El Viejo" is a song by the Uruguayan band La Vela Puerca. The song was born out of a night when Sebastián Teysera and Nicolás Lieutier went to watch a rehearsal of the murga Falta y Resto and heard the chorus singing a melody written by Alejandro Balbis. The melody, which lasted only 20 seconds, had a profound impact on them.
