Her home country is Mount Theo outstation north west of Yuendumu - about 170km off the Tanami Highway. Audrey was taught to paint by her aunt and has painted for about 20 years including for Jukurrpa Arts, formerly in Alice Springs, and Warlukurlangu Artists in Hi. In this video, I'd like to tell you about one of our artist, Audrey Martin Napanangka. She was born in 1952, Yuendumu one of the settlements in Warlpir Audrey Napanangka and Santo Giardina met in the 1980s. "And a white suit," adds Giardina - now bespectacled with a long, grey beard. "I was going to town on business, and all of a sudden Storytelling Through Art is a film project centering different First Nations artists from across the continent and surrounding islands. The series is produced, directed and edited by Arrernte and Luritja woman Talia Liddle. This film features Warlpiri artist Audrey Napanangka, and has been filmed in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) on Arrernte Country. Audrey is a Warlpiri woman born in Yuendumu Community, approximately 3 hours North West of Alice Springs in Central Australia. Audrey has lived her whole life in Yuendumu, attending primary school, and later raising her own family in Yuendumu.
