A fire had broken out in a nitric acid plant. The explosition was so severe, it caused a crater, and huge factory walls were reduced to rubble. Dating back almost 2,000 years Castleford in West Yorkshire, a C20th coal-mining town, rests above earlier settlements on land which is rich with archaeology.
