Objectives : Since June 1997, Australia has run its first nationally coordinated mass media anti-smoking campaign, with all States collaborating to offer a standard Quitline service. An overview of the Australian national Quitline service is presented as well as two studies describing (a) the relationship between television advertising and call volume and type, and (b) the quit rates of 43358_MediBank_Quitline Brochure_v1. Quitline is a 7 day con dential service. This means you can call Quitline anytime and choose to speak with a professional Advisor. Quitline Advisors are trained to support people who are cutting down or quitting smoking. Quitline Advisors understand that quitting smoking can be tough, and they will not judge The Aboriginal Quitline is available for all Aboriginal residents of NSW and the ACT. It is a culturally-sensitive, free and confidential telephone service providing customised support to help you with your quit smoking attempt. You can access the Aboriginal Quitline by calling 13 7848 and asking to speak to an Aboriginal counsellor. Of those with available data, 75% of participants with a mental health condition made a quit attempt, compared to 71.9% of those without a mental health condition. The recommendations of the evaluation will be used to improve the service for people who use it in the future.
