The pahalik or veneration of the Black Nazarene started two hours early to accommodate the multitude of devotees who had lined up for hours at the Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park yesterday morning. MANILA -- Devotees continued to converge at the Quirino Grandstand on Sunday for the second day of the annual "Pahalik," a homage to the revered Black Nazarene. Their prayers extended beyond personal blessings, with devotees fervently seeking well-being for their loved ones. Despite the physical challenges, 71-year-old Francisco Lozada insisted Pahalik, misa mayor, and other activities for the Feast of the Black Nazarene 2024. Activities leading up to the Traslacion include the replica blessing and procession at 1:30 p.m. on January 3 and 4 at the Quiapo Church. Regular masses continue on January 5 and 8, while fiesta masses start from 3:00 p.m. onwards until 11:00 p.m. on January 8. The traditional "Pahalik sa Poon Nazareno" unexpectedly started at 4 in the morning. The image of the Black Nazarene was moved to the Quirino Grandstand in L San Agustin visited earlier, participating in the Pahalik ever since she was 7 years old.
