The University of the South, familiarly known as Sewanee, was founded in 1857 and is owned by 28 dioceses of the Episcopal Church. It is located on 13,000 acres atop the Cumberland Plateau, making it the second largest campus in the U.S. The University consists of the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Theology, and the School of Letters - a summer master's degree program in English Business+Liberal Arts.
